Inspired by Hoang Nam Viet’s newest series of charcoal sketches, Graphite-dust-eraser, this talk-in-action will get your hands dirty! In his works, he used strong charcoal strokes and eraser on paper to reflect his own view over the conflicts of life – individual, societal and generational. Let’s join him in an intimate conversation, sharing his experimental practices with charcoal in exhibition “I, Me, Mine”.

Hoang Nam Viet (b.1985) is a self-taugh artist from Saigon, he has experimented in different mediums and with various disciplines. An entrepreneur, dreamer and artist, Nam Viet pulls from different spheres of life and a multitude of experiences the raw material with which to create art.

Artist Talk with Nguyễn Đỗ Lập Xuân
(2PM – 3.30PM)

As a performance artist, Do Nguyen Lap Xuan – in her most recent piece Nothingness – explores, intepretes and confronts the notions of human’s greed and possessiveness through a series of actions incrementally led by her own subconsciousness. This piece exemplifies one of the methodologies Lap Xuan often uses in her practice: combining an experimental medium such as video art, installation art or performance art to investigate her interests in behaviour psychology and social experimentations.

Join us at Lap Xuan’s artist talk to learn more about her creative processes, and to discuss the journey of performance art – an artistic language which has consistently been challenging the core characteristics of conventional art medim by introducing and bringing to the forefront concepts of time, theatricality, linguistics and the body.

There is no fee applied to join this talk. However, due to seat limitation, please be on time to secure your seat.

Artist Talk with Yatender
(4PM – 5.30PM)

Join the journey with Yatender and hear her out as she speaks about ‘Dating in the Digital Age’ – the artist’s  personal project which unfolds candidly from a desire to escape the narrow worldview of circumstance and reach across great distances to touch something real.

It is easy to project onto Yatender’s work a defiance against the inherent conservatism of Vietnamese culture, but her art answers for and asks of no one but herself. Yatender’s body of work is an unchoreographed, exposed archive of all that is real and visceral, by turns coarse, scorched, and softly lit, through the hazy focus of a mind in flux.

There is no fee applied to join this talk. However, due to seat limitation, please be on time to secure your seat.
