In the exhibition ‘When the substance vs. the dream; The body flesh vs. the immaculateness; The ideal vs. the materiality – The new possibilities of Painting’, curator Nguyễn Như Huy presents the work of two emerging Vietnamese artists whose exploration of painting demonstrates unique approach, propounding their art as paying homage to Vietnamese artistic tradition while also taking important inspiration from the wonder of the 21 st Century at home and abroad.
Nguyễn Văn Đủ (b. 1986) and Trần Nguyễn Trung Tín (b. 1992) are representives of the youngest generation of Vietnamese artists practicing painting today. They treat their paintings in a more calm and peaceful manner than prior generations, as they consider their artworks a natural instrument for expression, not just a weapon/tool in the war between modernity and tradition, between what is local and global.
The Factory is pleased to present the artistic conversation in order to introduce and expand knowledge of artistic practices, as well as curator’s perspective for this show. This is also the launching of the color catalog with full images and curatorial essay of the exhibition.
