Cietisoo Nguyễn

b. 1994, Ho Chi Minh City

Cietisoo Nguyễn is a visual artist using photography and digital technology to construct images that reflect his consciousness of both the external and internal world. With both parents being well-respected scientists, Cietisoo grew up questioning his surroundings through the scope of science, in combination with the Eastern spiritual beliefs commonly practiced in Vietnam. At a young age, he  was introduced to photography and soon decided to pursue it as a medium to invest his interest in finding the unseen and explore his own self. Over time he developed his practice to straddle the fine line between digital art and photography, creating a realm within his work where he examines human nature, inviting the viewer to reconsider their assumptions. Cietisoo studied at the Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Theatre and Cinema (Vietnam), and holds an Advanced Diploma of Photography at North Metropolitan TAFE (Australia). Select exhibitions include: ‘Meraki’ (group show, Gallery Central, Northbridge, Western Australia, 2017);  ‘Elliosis’ (group show, Toong Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Ho Chi Minh City, 2018); ‘Vi tế’ (solo, Noir Gallery, Ho Chi Minh City, 2018).
