THE FACTORY RECEIVES FUND FROM THE PRINCE CLAUS FUND & GOETHE-INSTITUT
The Factory is delighted to be selected as a recipient of the Prince Claus Fund and Goethe-Institut’s joint programme ‘Cultural and Artistic Response to Environmental Change’, alongside Hanoi Doclab and Manzi Art Space (Hanoi) in 2020!
The Factory shall launch ‘Re-Aligning the Cosmos’, in March 2020. ‘Re-Aligning the Cosmos’ is conceived as a twelve-month ‘Fellowship’, for one Vietnamese artist, exploring Vietnam’s cultural tradition of respect for the five elements – wood, fire, earth, metal and water – essential materials to our planet’s cultural sustainability that are being plundered, despite our spiritual reliance on their symbolic value and meaning. This Fellowship grants one artist/collective (sourced via National Open Call), the opportunity to critically respond to one element and its endangerment in Vietnam, co-developing their ideas and research with relevant local community, facilitated (with a year-long associated international public program) by The Factory Contemporary Arts Centre.
Please stay tuned for more information, to be updated on our website, soon!
Since 2018, the ‘Cultural and Artistic Response to Environmental Change’ program supports initiatives from Africa, Latin and South America, Asia, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe that enable local communities as well as global institutions to engage with the threatening changes of nature and our environment through contemporary artistic and cultural interventions. The programme looks for ground-breaking cultural initiatives by individual artists, creative professionals as well as cultural organisations; especially initiatives that express how the arts and new media can propose solutions to environmental issues and create alternatives that support sustainability and foster cooperation and an exchange of new ideas globally.
