Rahel Joseph

Rahel Joseph is Gallery Director of ILHAM. A lawyer by training, she has over 20 years’ experience working in arts and culture. She was formerly at Galeri PETRONAS where she managed the exhibitions and public programmes and was the Director of Cultural Affairs at the Australian High Commission Kuala Lumpur for over seven years where she initiated and managed several artist residencies including the AHC Visual Art Awards. She has co-curated various exhibitions including Love Me in My Batik, Modern Batik Art from Malaysia and Beyond (2016) and Gerak, Rupa, Ubur, Penyataan, 1957 – 1971 (2017) and also co-facilitated ILHAM Contemporary Forum Malaysia 2009 – 2017 (2017), for ILHAM Gallery. She has written extensively for both editorial and print media and had a column in the New Straits Times and the Nutgraph writing about arts and culture. She is co-editor of Narratives of Malaysian Art Vol 3.
