Dominic Scriven

b. 1963, Ho Chi Minh City

Dominic Scriven is a British collector who has lived in Vietnam for 25 years. He established The Dogma Collection which first emerged in Hanoi in the 1990s, driven by an archival passion for Vietnam’s uniquely colorful and powerfully graphic Propaganda messaging. At the same time, Dogma developed an admiration for the emerging world of contemporary artists that acted as a mirror for Renovation-era Vietnam. The Dogma Collection exists as a tribute to the place of art in Vietnam, both in wartime, and in peace and modernity. The Dogma Prize was established in 2009 and is funded by the independent Dogma Collection. Occurring approximately every two years, the purpose of the Prize is to encourage and promote Vietnamese artists, whether resident in Vietnam or overseas, through a focus on self-portraiture, of all disciplines.
