Our curator Lê Thuận Uyên is proudly featured (as author) in the first issue of ArtRepublik Vietnam with her musing on an exhibition she curated in 2018 – ‘Gang of Five Chancing Modern‘ – Organized by Art Vietnam Gallery in 2017, and toured to The Factory in 2018. This on-going art project surveys over three decades of artistic practice by five of the most important artists of the late 1990s in North Vietnam – Hồng Việt Dũng, Hà Trí Hiếu, Đặng Xuân Hoà, Trần Lương and Phạm Quang Vinh – who explored ideas of abstraction at a time when Vietnam’s contemporary art scene was just beginning.
