There is rarely a form of traditional toy-making that can thrive to experiment the modern life like Tò He. Not only portraying the familiar characters from Vietnam’s cultural and social life such as the 12 Zodiacs animals or religious symbols, Tò He also approaches modern days’ elements with inspiration from international culture in order to stay on trend and offer its customers (mostly children) their favorite characters in the form of flour figures. Continuously updating its source of inspiration, but at the same time maintaining the traditional crafting skill, Tò He still has its place amongst the young generation. However, with the rapid growth of foreign products, would Tò He and the traditional toy-making culture be forgotten?
Join Vietnamme and The Factory in the conversation with Nhựt Nguyễn (Lài) in the talk about Tò He and other Vietnamese elements in art, followed by a Tò He making workshop instructed by Tò He artisans.
