The technique of hand embroidery is one of the methods used by designer Thủy Nguyễn in multiform applications on her fashion designs, not only for decorative purpose but also to depict a cultural story, a common characteristic throughout the exhibition ‘Thủy Nguyễn – An Everyday Dream‘ at The Factory. From digital textile print, silk emboss to applique and beading; from the Imperial City of Huế, Red River Delta, to Mê Kông Delta (Sa Đéc), Thủy Nguyễn has collaborated with skilled artisans of great renown in the process of constructing her artistic garments, all of which are accomplished by their technique, experience, emotion and vigor.
In addition to their practicalities, clothing also contains the identity and biographies of not only its owner but also its creator. Every time you look at the garments in your wardrobe, have you ever thought of the fleeting moments and memories that they embody?
Attendees of ‘Autumn Embroidery’ workshop will be able to learn the technique of hand embroidery in recreating the beauty of the natural world (one of the main themes in ‘Thủy Nguyễn – An Everyday Dream’) by giving a sentimental item a new life.
