Krossing Over Arts Festival highlights the collaboration between various art forms and diverse cultures. As part of Krossing Over 2019, this talk with choreographer and founder Sébastian Ly, dancers John Huy Trần and Sandrine Llouquet will bring a closer look into how the language of dancing expresses itself, reveals its depth while connecting with other art forms without any voice.
Initiated by choreographer Sébastien Ly, Krossing Over Arts Festival was officialy launched in 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City. The 2019 edition of the festival, with tremendous support from the French Institute in Vietnam and Kerman, will take place from April 5th to 11th in Ho Chi Minh City and from April 13th to April 21th in Hanoi City, featuring a variety of disciplines and artistic forms, from contemporary dance, screenings of short films, to artist talks and introductory workshops on contemporary dance.
Inspired by the metaphoric image of the roots of all trees, this year’s festival is themed “Roots”. Through the lens of dance and performing arts, the festival aims to bring the concept of origin and growth to life. Audience will be invited to take a deep dive back to their origins, the roots of their family tree; and to join an exploratory journey back to the deepest part of their subconsciousness – the foundation of one’s individuality, the source of nutrients for one’s development.
