Trần Hậu Yên Thế

(b.1970, Hanoi)

He is a visual artist and an art researcher. He belongs to one of the first generations of experimental artists who engaged with new art forms in Vietnam such as Installation art and Conceptual art in the mid 1990s. In addition, his expert knowledge, research projects and published articles and essays on Vietnamese traditional and ancient arts have earned him much acknowledgement and acclaim. In 2016, he defended his doctoral thesis on Theory and History of Art, focusing on how Vietnamese traditional decorative arts were utilized throughout history to aid processes of cultural exchange and acculturation.
